Retroactive interference

I find it very difficult to retrieve back my memorization that I have put in my brain's storage especially Yaasin (not that I never have problem with Al-Mulk). My routine goes like this; on the first day I memorize half a page of Yasin, the second day would be difficult for me to go for another half (to memorize it perfectly) as I spend more time trying to remember the previous ayah. And there goes my plan. It gets difficult day by day.

Dr. Meriam Omar thought me last semester in Introduction class about the reasons for forgetting under the topic of Memory. Maybe there is one best illustrate me hehe. Let me list them down to see if there is any.

1. Encoding failure - The information is not attended to and fails to be encoded. Nay.

2. Decay or disuse - The information that is not accessed decays from the storage system over time. Nay.

3. Proactive interference - Older information already in memory interferes with the retrieval of newer information. This one could be the reason I think. Or maybe not.

4. Retroactive interference - Newer information interferes with the retrieval of older information. A BIG YES! Now I know the psychology term of my problem.

I think number four is the problem that I faced right now. I memorize one part, and another part on the next day. When going back to the first part that has been memorized, I forgot. And even worst I also forgot the second part. Haih..

See the picture above. As a techno noobies, I seriously have no idea how to move the picture down here. I tried cut-and-paste technique to move it down but still no change. Haha. I think there must be something related to the HTML coding or something.

Ahhaa back to my solution. As you can see above, I wrote the beginning word or words of every ayah in a piece of paper and paste in on the wall. Brilliant right? I can do memorization effectively even without referring to the Quran.

Maryam.
